30/7/11: Trippin' KL

Hey...
It was totally a great exposure seeing Berjaya Hospitality Uni Coll students managing the "Samplings on the Fourteen" while learning how to make cocktails/mocktails and having insights regarding the courses that are offered.

From the term "hospitality", of course its more related to the "services" part. The uni/col occupies 2 floors....the 11th and the 14th, I think....and is completed with computer labs, pastry labs, resources centre, and the amazing part: the Oenology Lab.

We, including me were informed that it is a course of leadership....but instead both turn out to be 2 completely different things! and in that day....there is no "leadership" mentioned, (okay...maybe when the person in charge talked about Business & Retail management)....and the teachers did not well express "leadership" well enough....as they have to manage a few bunches of baby-grown-ups! The first prob arose when they plan who and who will be on the bus....and it took about 30 min to get everybody on the bus.
Waiting in school

Things get worse when KL was raining that day....ooohh...how I love the rainy days....but not for the teachers...
Waiting under the station....in KL

The buses dropped us off below the Imbi Monorail Station, which Berjaya UCH is opposite...We waited...and waited...and waited for the person in charge to bring us across....(why didn't we make our own moves there?...probably it was 9.30 in the morning and the UCH located INSIDE Berjaya Time Square is still closed and we didn't have the permission/authorities to stump in. )

In the complex...we waited again.....for the 2 lifts to bring us up to the UCH....

Peepsss waited in front of the "Additional Lifts Are Under Construction To Serve you Better" sign.

And we got up to the 11th floor was greeted by a few snapshots of photo....by the Berjaya peeps....for their own collection, I suppose...and we made our way to the lecture room (not hall). and there came the a-little-blurry-part....The person in charge introduced the courses available, mostly culinary arts. There was no sign of the "leadership course" as mentioned before and then we were divided into 2 groups to look around the campus....

Again....we waited for the lifts to get us up the 14th floor.....and it was kinda grand....mostly its part of the hotel....Along the corridors we walked to the Oenology Lab....but it was being occupied by another visiting group...We waited at the (I think) Coffee & Tea Lab.....

When the lab's clear...all of the peeps rushed in to get the best view/position to get to know more about "Bar Beverages" which was conducted by Richie... (FYI, I was the last to lay my foot in due to my over-not-competitive approach). He firstly introduced the types of glasses, like the Margarita Glass, High Ball Glass and the Tornado Glass. And, we learnt on how to make a mock-tail....which is not alcoholic...compared to the alcoholic cocktails...Things get a little bored for me...as Richie made one (that was compulsory) and one student made one also, followed by another to make another one....with different syrups...added with Sprite...

Richie showing types of syrups...

The "tornado" glass

The Margarita & High Ball glass

So...basically its like this!

Cocktail made by Richie....

Richie and the others observing while the one of the students tried to make one.....

Then, we walked around a restaurant, kitchens, labs, classrooms-in-kitchens seeing students, chefs, and lecturers, that are baking, cooking, making sugar ornaments, and teaching...and also got to know different types of tables (with different temperatures) for different purposes of cooking, baking etc...

The person in charge explaining the layout of kitchen...but most of us paid more attention to the food.

Students' Hand's On.

Wanna bake the perfect pastry...here's the recipe!

Walaah!! Glorious food!

We had our lunch in Samplings On The Fourteen fine-dining-restaurant there....Just simple lunch (fried rice + a few pieces of fried chickens + sambal). Again....due to my over-not-competitive approach, I had to stand while enjoying my lunch and the view from the 14th floor...

Grabbin' lunch...no sense of discipline....XDXDXD

A perfect spot to bring your GF for dinner....imagine the scenery at night!!!

KL streets and carss....

Water...the most essential element in our lives...

Having lunch....

 Full stop.....
New chapter, we discussed with Mr Lee HF such that a few trip-mates and I plan to go to tuition which is nearby...and he agreed.... It was my second time taking a public bus in my whole life....with the first time hearing so many honks from the driver....Reckless driving!! The I went for the Biology class...which is gonna start at 1.20 pm....

Then....I went to Central Market aka Pasar Seni to get some fresh air....(believe me....it ain't fresh except for the air conditioning indoors)....I walked and took pictures...and walked again....and again....taking blurry picturess!!!!! How I hate it when the camera's shutter speed ain't swift enough!!!! I also walked through the Jln. HS Lee Gallery Stalls (Pasar) that really that has marked a few hundred years of history ( i supposed it's been there for some time)...My camera went out of batteries when I wanted to snap a person that is one-legged, walking smoothly with the aid of crutches....arrrghhh!!! Another masterpiece gone!!!

I spent some time in Popular reading a book on Diabetes...which is caused by over-secretion of insulin in our body that increases the sugar level....which causes Diabetes Mellitus, whereby Mellitus means honey-sweet!!!
(for more info....search the web....not me....)

at 4.20, I went for BM class and went back...normal story.....

Peace out....
That's a lift??

Peeps observing "dunno-what"

I think she got "Hirameki"....meaning "inspiration"
